Robata is Japanese-style grilling an open, charcoal flame used to cook a variety of ingredients. It's the robata menu that truly sets Dragon King’s Daughter New Albany apart, not just from its sister restaurant in the Highlands but from other Japanese eateries in the area. While cut from the same fusion cloth, Dragon King’s Daughter New Albany tempers the Mexican influence in its dishes in favor of a more Japanese-forward menu, trading out tacos and quesadillas for ramen and robata specialties. Living less than a mile from the Dragon King’s Daughter on Bardstown Road, I never felt a need to traverse the Sherman Minton Bridge in search of its New Albany outpost - that is, until I began to understand what a distinctive experience the Southern Indiana location offers.
